Swedish/Relaxation Massage ~
Swedish Massage is a type of bodywork that is specifically designed to relax muscles, by applying deep pressure to muscles with the use of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the superficial layers of the muscles. Swedish Massage also combines stretching to increase range of motion of joints and reduce tension and stress. By massaging toward the heart, the strokes can increase circulation, enhance oxygen flow in the blod and help rid toxins in the muscles. Swedish Massage helps to flush body tissues of lactic and uric acid, and other metabolic wastes that cause pain. Aside from increasing circulation to the heart, Swedish Massage stretches ligaments and tendons making them more flexible, speeds healing, reduces and swelling. Through particular techniques, Swedish Massage is also known to stimulate the nervous system to reduce emotional and physical stress. An effective therapy which helps in overall wellbeing, Swedish Massage is not only relaxing but invigorating as well.

You know that spot where you guide someone up a little ~ to the left a little ~ "That's it! You've got it!?" Well that is a Trigger Point. They are hypersensitive and hyperirritable spots found in skeletal muscles, tendons, ligaments and skin. Trigger Points are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers. The palpable nodules are said to be small contraction knots and a common cause of pain. Compression of a trigger point may elicit local tenderness, referred pain or motor dysfunction. Fascia surrounding muscles is also be treated, sometimes with myofascial release, to elongate and resolve strain patterns.
Connective Tissue Massage ~
Connective Tissue is similar to a layer of saran wrap between the skin and the muscles. When there is a problem in one area of the muscle, it is like something is pulling on that one area of saran wrap. Connective Tissue Massage can release fascial restrictions, decrease adhesion formation, and improve connective tissue healing.
